My Thoughts on the "Hook Me Up" Album
The Veronicas album, “Hook Me Up” is one of my favorite albums in the world!
Untouched: We all know "Untouched"! It's hard not to love this song! The violins in the beginning of this song draw all listeners in, making everyone interested and ready to listen to Lisa and Jess sing. The syllables of the words in the verses are sung flawlessly, and are surprisingly easy to memorize and sing along to. And of course, the world known chorus is the best part, being both haunting and danceable. 10/10
Hook Me Up: This song is a great song to listen to when you just want to get away and be free at mind. The way The Veronicas sing, "hook" in the song is very hypnotizing. "Hook Me Up" isn't phenomenal compared to the rest of the album, but definitely worth buying and all Veronica fans will love it! 8/10
This Is How It Feels: Though there are times that you may want to listen to a different track on this album, this song is nearly impossible to skip or cancel out once started. The overall pumped up sound for this song is extremely addictive, and Lisa and Jess's incredible voices when they sing the title will just make you that much more obsessed with this song. The second that "This Is How It Feels" starts up the fast, robotic beat instantly kicks in you'll get caught up into the song and find yourself tapping your foot all the way through. 8/10
This Love: As soon as this track begins and the sounds seep through one's speakers there is a soothing and comforting vibe produced. What makes the sounds in the background even better is, of course Lisa and Jess's singing. Lisa begins the song with a very soft voice, and then naturally breaks out into chorus along with Jess. The lyrics in "This Love" are also very relatable. The idea of holding onto a true and pure relationship even in the worst of situations will provide a sense of hope for all listeners. 7/10
I Can't Stay Away: This is definitely my personal favorite track on the album! From lyrics, to singing, to instruments, this song is simply addictive! From the moment The Veronicas start singing, all the way through the song up until the last note, you will be completely entranced. The basic line "i can't stay away" is very relatable in that it can be fitted with numerous different scenarios for certain individuals. Even the line "i inhale now I’m addicted" is addicting in itself (to listen to)! "I Can't Stay Away" is so captivating and one of The Veronicas best! 10/10
Take Me On The Floor: Surprisingly, the nonstop "da da da da da da da da" coming from Jess isn't annoying like one might think at first. It adds a lot of child like fun to the mature dirty pop lyrics, and as a bonus is super catchy! "Take Me On The Floor" is yet another song that is easy to get into! 8/10
I Don't Wanna Wait: The best part of this song is how brilliantly Lisa and Jess's vocals sing every word. But unfortunately the actual sound of the song isn't nearly as entertaining as the rest of this album. Only a true Veronica fan would like this song right off the bat; it's easy for a random listener to pass by "I Don't Wanna Wait". 6/10
Popular: The first thing you will notice about this song is that it's lyrics are super bratty, but in a good confidence boosting way. The chorus is extremely catchy! It's too bad the song is the shortest one on the album, because you will be left wanting more and more of "Popular" from The Veronicas once it ends. 8/10
Revenge Is Sweeter: "Revenge Is Sweeter (Than You Ever Were)" is the best... well... revenge song! The singing by The Veronicas is a perfect blend of different attitudes, being a mix of venting behind the betrayer's back and telling him off straight up. "Revenge Is Sweeter" is definitely worth listening to. 9/10
Someone Wake Me Up: This is, for certain, one of the most passionate tracks on the album. It's one of my favorites for sure. "Someone Wake Me Up" is just bursting with heartbreak that almost everybody who walks the Earth can relate to. What makes this song so incredible is The Veronicas ability to connect to the listeners and make you feel every emotion they supposedly felt. The emotional singing isn't the only factor in this track that makes it truly appealing, though. It's the fact that the lyrics are easily understandable, which helps indirectly draw people, with less deep minds, in. "Someone Wake Me Up" is the ultimate heartbreak song to fall in love with. 10/10
All I Have: This song is filled with a gut busting guilt that would make anybody feel needy for a second chance. "All I Have" proves just how much one little mistake can hurt yourself and your relationship as it hangs by a thread. This is, yet another, a song filled with another great message carried out by amped up music and rhythm! 7/10
In Another Life: This song is definitely the one with the strongest message, in my opinion. The strength of the song is conveyed through lyrics to this bittersweet love story that are beautifully demonstrated through passionate singing. The song is different in that the lyrics make it more clear that the person loses interest in a former love, when they don't WANT to, which isn't a typical message for most teen pop songs. "In Another Life" is unique and beautiful thanks to heartfelt vocals and emotional lyrics. 10/10
Goodbye To You: The Veronicas did an amazing job singing this song. "Goodbye To You" is so fun filled and infectious that you won't be able to help but want to get up and dance! Lisa and Jess make it feel like this song was made for originally or them. 8/10
What's really amazing about the "Hook Me Up" album is the diverse messages for each individual song. After listening to The Veronicas you will feel very refreshed. This album covers all emotions feel-able in almost any situation. This album has songs full of longing and neediness from "Untouched" and, escape from "Hook Me Up", payback from "This Is How It Feels", hope from "This Love", obsession from "I Can't Stay Away", desire from "Take Me On The Floor", impatience from "I Don't Wanna Wait", confidence from "Popular", anger from "Revenge Is Sweeter (Than You Ever Were)", sorrow from "Someone Wake Me Up", guilt from "All I Have", closure from "In Another Life", and the album finishes off with one last upbeat and fun song, "Goodbye To You"! This is one of the very few albums in the world where every song has potential to be a super smash hit! Anybody would be crazy not to buy the "Hook Me Up" album by The Veronicas!
